Tory Lanez's felony assault trial

The jurors are debating whether Tory Lanez was responsible for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

Jurors have begun deliberating in the trial of rapper Tory Lanez, who is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion in the feet, leaving her injured in the process, and then fled the scene.

After Lanez's defense finished their closing argument on Wednesday, the jury of seven women and five men began deliberations late Thursday morning.

The Canadian rapper, who is 30 years old, has pleaded not guilty to three felony charges, one of which involves the use of a semiautomatic handgun in an assault.

He might be deported after serving as much as 22 years in prison. The attorney for Lanez said his client was not the shooter.

Prosecutors underlined her bravery in testifying and the animosity she received as a result in their closing remarks. Her alleged lack of motivation to lie was cited.

Lanez's counsel said Megan's then-best friend Kelsey Harris fired the rounds in a jealous quarrel over Lanez, who tried to halt the shooting.

The defense lawyer George Mgdesyan claims Megan framed Lanez in the shooting to make herself look better.
