Georgia Holt, a famous singer and actor who was also the mother of pop icon Cher, has passed away. She was 96.

On Saturday evening, Singer Cher took to Twitter to share the tragic news, writing "mom is gone."

After experiencing recurrent health issues, Holt was hospitalized in September and diagnosed with pneumonia.

Holt was an actress, singer-songwriter, and model who appeared in "Ozzie and Harriet," "I Love Lucy," and "Jane Wyman Presents the Fireside Theater."

Holt's country album "Honky Tonk Woman" was recorded in the 1980s. It came out in 2013 and had a duet with Cher called "I'm Just Your Yesterday."

Holt is survived by her partner, Spencer, her daughters Cher and Georganne LaPiere, and her grandsons Chaz Bono and P. Exeter Blue I.
