LaVine told reporters, "You play a player like me down the stretch, but I gotta do a better job at the start of the game to make my shots."

"I work in that field. Do I approve of the choice? No. Must I put up with it? Yeah. Be prepared for me to put on my shoes and start the following game."

With LaVine on the sidelines, the Bulls, who were behind by 14 at the half, were able to rally in the third quarter.

Head coach Billy Donovan believed it was prudent to bring him back to the bench as the team tried to finish the game in the closing minutes.

In those situations, Donovan remarked, "I feel like my duty, my responsibility is to try to make the best judgments for the team."
